Cape Town International Airport management plans to develop a cargo and logistics cluster for the airport and nearby areas. Upgrades at Cape Town International Airport mean good news for the airfreight industry after management committed to enhancing their services with facilities to grow its market share.

According to David Cloete, Cape Town International Airport general manager, around R7 billion will be invested to a new runway and improving domestic and international terminals, the current cargo operator’s contracts have since been renewed international terminals and better operational capability at the airport.

The airport has since seen growth in cargo exports as a result of Cape Town’s ongoing air access program. As Cloete said, CTIA’s management’s aim is not to restrict the cluster development to logistics and cargo but also include the light manufacturing sector for projects around the airport.
