CSI That Impacts

[Johannesburg, South Africa] – Röhlig-Grindrod, a global logistics company, and Cletech Cares, a non-profit organisation, joined forces to empower young entrepreneurs through an innovative Corporate Social Investment (CSI) project, the Project Legacy Business Legacy programme. This project aims to promote entrepreneurship and help young people develop essential skills to start and grow their businesses.

The program commenced on 4 April 2023, where 50 ex-matriculants were selected to participate in the entrepreneurship programme, which provided guidance on how to start and run a business. The program was conducted by the team from Cletech Cares who are business leaders, and industry experts, and shared their knowledge and experiences with the participants.

The entrepreneurship program was designed to provide a fun, interactive and comprehensive overview of business fundamentals, including financial management, marketing, customer service, and operations. Additionally, participants were introduced to the tools and resources necessary to establish and sustain a successful business.

After the program, participants were given an opportunity to pitch their business ideas to the Röhlig-Grindrod and Cletech Cares team. The pitches were evaluated based on the creativity, feasibility, and scalability of the business ideas.

Cletech Cares will be monitoring the progress of the participants along their journey and provide ongoing support to ensure their success. The aim of the project is to create a positive impact in the lives of the participants and the community at large.

“Röhlig-Grindrod is committed to making a positive difference in the communities we serve, and we believe that empowering young entrepreneurs is key to driving economic growth and creating sustainable employment opportunities,” said Sipho Mahlangu at Röhlig-Grindrod. “We are thrilled to have partnered with Cletech Cares, and we are confident that this project will have a lasting impact on the lives of the participants.”

“We are excited to have partnered with Röhlig-Grindrod in this initiative, and we are committed to supporting the participants in their entrepreneurial journey. We believe that this project will inspire and motivate more young people to pursue entrepreneurship and create a better future for themselves and their communities,” said Gin McLellan, Director, Cletech Cares.

The Project Legacy Business Legacy program is an excellent example of how publicprivate partnerships can drive meaningful social impact by harnessing the expertise and resources of both the corporate and non-profit sectors. The initiative demonstrates how businesses can play a critical role in empowering young people to create a better future for themselves and their communities.
